Who Are We

The Mercer County Republican Executive Committee (MCREC) is the official local organization of the West Virginia Republican Party (WVGOP) for Mercer County. The MCREC nominates Republican candidates for local office and supports Republican candidates for office at all levels of government.

  • Bylaws: MCREC’s structure and activities are governed by the Mercer County Republican Executive Committee’s By-Laws.
  • The Committee: The County Committee has an authorized size of 12 members, with four people (two men and two women) elected from each magisterial district in Mercer County. MCREC members and the County Chairman are elected during mid-term elections, and serve 4-year terms. During the 4-year term, new members may be elected by the Committee to fill vacancies.
  • Meetings: The Committee meets regularly, usually on the 4th Thursday of the month from January through December. MCREC meetings are open to the general public. Check our online calendar for the upcoming meeting schedule.
  • Leadership: MCREC is led by the County Chairman who acts as the leader of the Mercer County Republican Party. The current Chairman is Mr. Roman D. Stauffer.

As the local branch of the Republican Party we are committed to helping register voters that support the GOP, to organizing a strong Get-Out-The-Vote organization which will help our local, state and federal candidates with a strong political infrastructure.

While our goals sound simple, they are not! It takes committed volunteers like you, helping at every level to ensure we win! Please take a moment to look around our site and contact us with any questions.
